Twin Towers plus one
I remember hearing about a plane hitting the first tower just as I was leaving to go Walmart. It didn't seem real. In fact, it didn't even really register what I had just heard.
I remember walking down the aisle in Walmart, looking for some grocery item or another, and looking up at the hanging tv's they have there.
Two days after 9/11 I had a personally devastating event in my own life.
Forever, the two events will feel linked in whatever memory surfaces about them.
I have often wondered how many others had the ripple of 9/11 tear thru the fabric of their personal world, in addition to the global impact of it that we all felt.
There is something about disaster that triggers personal clearing or crisis or both. For me, it meant the ending of a seven-year spiritual marriage. At the moment I realized this was true, I literally saw myself as one of the towers, collapsing into dust.
As I look at the energetic gridline now, it feels to me as if 9/11 (despite being a horrific day with tremendous suffering for so many) is unfolding blessings.
One blessing that I noticed right away was the massive outpouring of reaching out, comforting, the extending of support in myriad ways. This potent outpouring seemed to be spontaneously happening among the people of New York, spared one by one by one, light candles in a dark night.
There was a palpable shift in focus from work, and money, and things to connecting, and sharing with the other human beings around one. There was, quite simply, a rarified air that began to replace the destruction -- the air of compassion, love, respect and caring.
Were other elements there? Elements of fear, anger, rage, etc.? Of course. What is the miracle to me is that those did not prevail. Love prevailed. Compassion prevailed. Respect prevailed. Caring prevailed
That rarified air permeated the globe from New York and ripples still across the globe, in my perception. We are changed by the hearts of the people. We are forever changed.
